Applications to assign a tenancy by mutual exchange between tenants will be approved if the household of the incoming tenant matches the type of property, as follows:-

Bedsit bungalow   In the following order of preference:
     
    single person over state pension age
     
    single person aged over 50
     
    other single person
     
Flat with 1 bedroom   single person
     
    couple living together as man and wife
     
    couple or single person with a contact order for a child / children from a past relationship
     
Flat with 2 bedrooms   In the following order of preference:
     
    a. couple or single parent with 1 or 2 children aged over 14
     
    b. couple living together as man and wife who needs separate bedrooms for medical reasons
     
    c. couple or single person with a contact order for a child / children from a past relationship
     
    d. couples with no children
     
Flat with 3 bedrooms   In the following order of preference:
     
    a. couple or single person with children of different sexes one of whom is aged 8 or over
     
    b. couple or single person with a contact order for a child / children from a past relationship
     
    c. couple or single person with children of the same sex, one of whom is aged 8 or over
     
Elderly persons bungalow   In the following order of preference:
with 1 bedroom    
    a. single person over the state pension age, or couple one of whom is over the state pension age
     
    b. single person over 50 , or couple one of whom is over 50
     
    c. family, in accordance with section 155 of the Housing Allocations and Transfer Policy
     
Elderly persons bungalow   In the following order of preference:
with 2 bedrooms    
    a. couple, one of whom is over state pension age, who need separate bedrooms for medical reasons
     
    b. single person over state pension age with whom a relative lives permanently
     
    c. couple who do not need separate bedrooms, one of whom is over state pension age
     
    d. other single person over state pension age
     
    e. couple, one of whom is over 50
     
    f. single person over 50
     
Bungalow for disabled persons   single person or couple who need such accommodation
with 1 bedroom    
     
Bungalow for disabled persons    
with 2 bedrooms   a. couple who need such accommodation and need separate bedrooms for medical reasons
     
    b. single person who needs such accomodation and needs sleeping accommodation for a carer
     
    c. couple or single person who need such accommodation and have a child / children
     
Sheltered housing   In the following order of preference:
     
    a. people over state pension age, who can live independently with such support as is reasonably available
     
    b. people aged over 50 ( unless this would result in loss of concessionary TV licence
     
NOTE : the different sizes of sheltered housing units will be allocated according to the above guidelines
     
Very sheltered housing   people over state pension age, who need such accommodation and are approved by the Social Services Department
     
House with 1 bedroom   single people or couples
     
Houses with 2 bedrooms   a. families with 1 child or 2 children of the same sex
     
    b. families with 2 children of different sexes where the older is aged under 8
     
Houses with 3 bedrooms   In the following order of preference:
     
    a. families with 3 or 4 children
     
    b. families with 2 children of different sexes, one of whom is aged 8 or over
     
    c. families with 2 children of the same sex where there is a 10 year difference in their ages
     
    d. families with 2 children of different sexes where the older is aged under 8
     
    e. families with 2 children of the same sex
     
    f. families with 1 child
     
House with 4 bedrooms   In the following order of preference:
     
    a. families with 5 or more children
     
    b. families with 4 children of different sexes
     
    c. families with 4 children of the same sex
     
    d. families with 3 children of different sexes
     
    e. families with 3 children of the same sex
     
    f. families with 2 children
     
    g. families with 1 child
