Health Visitors.

The Health Visitor who is attached to your GP Surgery can offer support and will have an awareness of domestic violence.

She will ensure that the safety of the woman (and of any dependant children) is paramount. She will treat you with respect and dignity and listen to you without being judgmental. She will help you to make informed decisions and choices about your life. She will respect confidentiality and privacy (unless the safety/well-being of children is involved and then she will discuss this with you).

General Practitioners

Your GP will treat any information you give him/her in confidence. He/she will document any injuries sustained by you and will record your explanation of how the injuries occurred. He/she will also be able to refer you to other appropriate agencies for support/help.
